Howard University researchers have access to a variety of resources to seek and identify funding opportunities. Research Development identifies and disseminates federal funding opportunities to faculty throughout the Howard University Community on a weekly basis. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any open funding announcements. The Research Development Unit works directly with faculty to provide the following services:

BenchChem Research Excellence Scholarship 2025
BenchChem is offering the [www.benchchem.com/scholarship-program]Research Excellence Scholarship Program 2025, which provides three awards of USD $1,000 to outstanding student researchers. The program is intended to recognize excellence in research and to support the academic and professional development of students in the sciences and engineering.
Key Information
- Application Period: November 15, 2025 – February 15, 2026
- Awards: Three scholarships of USD $1,000 each
- Eligibility: Full-time undergraduate, graduate, or PhD students in leading research countries. Applicants must be an author on at least one peer-reviewed paper (acceptance letters are acceptable).
- Fields of Study: Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Materials Science, Biomedical Sciences, and related areas
- Application Materials: Application form, recommendation letter, official transcript, proof of accepted/published paper, and an essay (500–800 words) or presentation (8–10 slides with notes)
- Results Announcement: After March 15, 2026
