Federal Sponsor Requirements for Acknowledging Funding
The Stevens Amendment requires that in journal articles, reports and presentations at scholarly meetings, investigators and others recognize the federal government for its support of research However, whether required or not, the University recommends that it is best practice to acknowledge sponsor support. There may be occasions when sponsors specifically request names not be used or be used only with approval. Such restrictions would usually be part of the award document. Research Administrative Services can answer specific questions about sponsor acknowledgment. For your convenience, we have provided links to several federal sponsors where you can obtain the specific acknowledgement and disclaimer language for your federal award.
